Product and Regulatory Information

Product descriptions, specifications, images, and related materials are provided for general professional reference and do not replace the labeling, instructions, specifications, certificates, or other documentation applicable to a particular product.

FDA registration of an establishment, or the listing of a human cell, tissue, or cellular or tissue-based product, does not constitute FDA approval, clearance, licensure, certification, endorsement, or a determination of regulatory compliance. It also does not establish that a particular product is appropriately regulated solely under Section 361 of the Public Health Service Act.

Products made available through Meridian Biologics are not FDA-approved. The laboratories that prepare them represent that they are human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products (HCT/Ps) intended to be regulated solely under Section 361 of the Public Health Service Act, prepared in facilities registered with, and subject to inspection by, the FDA. Under the FDA’s framework, that classification is made in the first instance by the manufacturer. Each laboratory classifies the products it makes; Meridian Biologics reports that classification as issued. The FDA does not confirm Section 361 status in advance, and such classifications remain subject to FDA review and enforcement. Registration of a facility is not approval of a product: products in that category do not undergo premarket review, and the absence of premarket review is not approval and must not be described or understood as approval.

No product made available through Meridian Biologics is manufactured by Meridian Biologics. Products ship directly from the manufacturing laboratory; Meridian Biologics does not take possession of, store, or ship any product. Product-specific information — including composition, specifications, donor screening, testing, storage conditions, and regulatory classification — originates with the laboratory that manufactures the product. Meridian Biologics relies on the manufacturing laboratory’s representations and documentation for that information and provides it as issued. Separately, this website may refer to the existence of products approved or licensed by the FDA or by regulators in other countries, and links to regulators’ own public records. Any such reference is historical and educational; it concerns products Meridian Biologics does not supply, and the regulatory status of any other product confers nothing on any product made available through Meridian Biologics. An approval is specific to one product, one manufacturer, one indication, and one jurisdiction.

A product’s regulatory classification, intended use, and homologous-use status depend on product-specific facts and applicable law. Website content does not constitute a legal or regulatory determination regarding any product or proposed use.
